(参照、Yoshiko Kaneta: Egon Schiele und seine Beziehung zu Richard Hamanns Buch Die Früh-Renaissance der italienischen Malerei, Egon-Schiele-Jahrbuch Band II/III 2012/2013, Wien, 2015, S. 258-272.).

Egon Schiele
(1890—1918)
In Commemoration
Model Mausoleum
by Yoshiko Kaneta
In recognition of one of the exponents of Austrian Expressionism in the early 20th century, exhibitions and events are being held this year in Egon Schiele’s native country, Austria, to mark the centenary of his unfortunate death in 1918 at the early age of 28. The vivid intensity of his work as well as the details of his short life have been well documented.
My own early exciting encounters with Schiele’s art, the scope of
its humanity, the recurring themes of life, religion and death, instilled in me a desire to share my enthusiasm with my fellow Japanese.
I thought it best to find an area with potential for further exploration.
In search of a topic, I came across two descriptions, one by Schiele’s friend painter / photographer Johannes Fischer and another by writer / critic Leopld Liegler, both calling his plans for his never-built mausoleum the culmination of his life work. It was then I decided on developing a model of the mausoleum true to Schiele’s vision the best I could.
The process was hindered by Schiele’s own illegible notes, but with the help of Dr. Hansjörg Krug, a handwriting expert and life-long student of Austrian art, it was possible to decipher them into German block print and then translate into Japanese. Subsequently working with architect Shuichi Matsuda, the model was completed and reported on (Yoshiko Kaneta: Egon Schiele und seine Beziehung zu Richard Hamanns Buch Die Früh-Renaissance der italienischen Malerei, Egon-Schiele-Jahrbuch Band II/III 2012/2013, Wien, 2015, S. 258-272.).
